1. Breville BMF600XL Milk Cafe Milk Frother
Let’s start with one of the most popular milk frothers on the market, the Breville BMF600XL. The reason for it’s popularity is presumably because it works so well. It comes with 2 discs that you can swap out really easily. There is the Latte frothing disc for smooth and silky milk and the Cappuccino frothing disk for thick and creamy froth. These discs can be stored on the device itself so you won’t lose the one you aren’t using.
This frother uses induction heating and the jug lifts right off once the milk is ready. This makes it really easy to clean as only the bug gets dirty and you can put it in the dishwasher.
You can also make hot chocolate with this frother simply by adding the powder or chocolate to the milk.
On the front of the device is a temperature wheel, depending on what type of drink you are making will depend on what temp you need the milk at. Once you have set the temperature and added the milk you simply press the button to set it away. The danger with a frother can be adding too much milk and it frothing over and making a mess. This one has a clever sensor that lets you know there is too much milk and it won’t start until you empty some out.
The jug is quite big so you can make quite a few cups at a time which is perfect if you have guests. All things considered this is one of the best frothers on the market and a very popular choice on Amazon.
2. Epica Automatic Electric Milk Frother and Heater Carafe
This frother is our personal favorite and another incredibly popular milk frother. This one is something of a bargain as well with a great price when compared to the Breville.
This has frother is very simple to use but has some great features. The feature that stands out here is its ability to make cold froth as well as hot. This means you can make many more drink types with this frother. However there is only 1 type of froth, there is no way to change the froth type which we could do with the Breville. This one has 3 Settings: Hot Froth, Cold Froth & Hot Milk.
It can make around 1 cup of froth at a time and again the jug lifts off the base for easy pouring. This frother has a thermos type design which helps keep the milk warmer for longer.
This is a great choice for the casual milk frother as it does everything you need it to and has the bonus of being able to froth cold milk so you can make iced cappuccinos etc.
For what it costs you can’t go wrong with this one.
3. Aicok Milk Frother
Again with this one we can froth hot or cold milk. You can also simply heat the milk without frothing if you prefer. The great thing about this one is that it is quick (although none of them are particularly sluggish) it heats and froths the milk in around 60 seconds.
It detaches from the base for easing pouring and works at the touch of a button. It has a double wall insulated design keeping your milk warm for longer making it more energy efficient. It makes about 1 cup (300ml) of milk at a time which is more than enough for a few drinks. It’s simple to use, quick and does what it needs to quickly. No temperature control here though.
We liked this one but the design felt a little clinical especially when compared to the Breville BMF600XL. When you are picking your milk frother it might just boil down to which one holds the most milk or which design you prefer.
4. Betitay Electric Milk Frother
I guess by now you are noticing a pattern with these frothers. No one has really got inventive with the design except Breville. The difference is of course is that the Breville is much more expensive. This option from Betitay is another great option. It’s a little bit smaller than some of the others with a 240ml capacity for warming milk. On all of these you can half its capacity for frothing as the milk doubles in size when foamed up. So you get about 120ml of frothed milk here.
With this one you need to swap out the disc depending on whether you want to simply heat the milk or froth it.
It takes around 90 seconds to heat and froth milk and just over a minute if you are frothing cold milk. Again it detaches from the base and is easy to clean. You can’t really go wrong with this or any of the frothers on this list.
Conclusion
So it seems a bit pointless to put anymore items on this list just for the sake of making up the numbers. Most of the frothers on offer are very similar in appearance and functionality with really only the Breville at number 1 on the list standing out. That offers both extra features in the form of different types of foam and you can change the temperature. It also looks a lot more modern but it comes in at the most expensive by far.
Another thing you may notice when shopping around is that many of the models are identical apart from the brand name. So chances are they are all coming out of the same factory then getting varying prices based on the brand they stick on the front.
