To get the results when cooking on a radiant glass cooktop you need the right set of pots and pans. We recommend using medium or heavy-gauge cookware. You also have to consider that certain cookware might scratch your glass cooktop, definitely something we want to avoid.
Stainless Steel and heavy gauge aluminium are going to be the best choices. Both conduct and distribute heat really well and neither will mark your cooktop.
Copper will work just fine as well but this may leave marks on the surface of the glass long term so thorough cleaning is essential. Also copper can stain glass if left on the heat for too long like if you were to over boil a pan.
Stoneware and glass don’t really compliment each other. You will get a poor performance from the pan and it will also likely scratch your cooktop.
Glass cook tops are very popular right now. They look modern and they are easy to clean but at the end of the day they are made of glass. Glass can scratch and break so we have to be more careful with them than say a gas cooktop. So we are going to look at some of the best cookware sets for glass stoves taking into consideration value, durability and functionality.

1. Cuisinart MCP-12N Multiclad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set
You know you are getting quality with Cuisinart and this is a really nice set that will work brilliantly with a glass cook top. This is a try-ply set meaning you get a stainless steel exterior and interior sandwiching an aluminium core. This means fantastic heat conduction and even cooking.
The set consists of: 1-1/2- and 3-quart covered saucepans; 8- and 10-inch open skillets; 3-1/2-quart covered saute pan; 8-quart covered stockpot; steamer insert with lid. 12 pieces in total.
This set is oven safe to 550 degrees and is also dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
The materials used to make this set are very high quality, it is a well made durable set that will last you for many years. The handles stay cool even when on the heat as well so they are safe and family friendly. As well as that they have been designed so you can pour without spilling.
2. Cuisinart 77-11G Chef’s Classic Stainless 11-Piece Cookware Set
Here’s another phenomenal set from Cuisinart. This one is incredibly popular and one of the best selling cookware sets on Amazon. It has over 11,000 reviews currently so you can tell it has been incredibly popular and with good reason.
This set is a bit of a bargain in our opinion. It isn’t a try play set but you do get aluminum bottomed pans for great heat conduction while the rest of the pans are stainless steel.
Like the last set you get stay cool handles and drop free pouring design.
Set Includes:1.0 Qt. Saucepan with cover, 2.0 Qt. Saucepan with cover, 3.0 Qt. Saucepan with cover, 3.0 Qt. Saute with helper handle and cover, 8.0 Stockpot with cover,8” Non-Stick Skillet, 10″ Skillet with cover, and 18 cm Steamer Insert.
This is a great starter set for anyone and just fantastic value.
3. Cooks Standard 10 Piece Multi-Ply Clad Cookware Set, Stainless Steel
This is a really nice high quality set from Cooks Standard. It comes with 1.5 and 3 qt saucepans, 8 qt stockpot, 4 qt/11 in. sauté pan, and a steamer insert with lids.
This set again sandwiches an aluminium core with stainless steel for great heat conduction from the glass surface of the cooktop. It has stay cool handles as well but watch out as the lid handles can get hot.
The whole metal construction means they are oven safe and are rated to 500 degrees F. They are also dishwasher safe so they are really easy to clean. This is a really popular set that will work on any cooktop but it particularly good on glass.
This is a fine alternative to Cuisinart if you decide to go for stainless steel.
4. T-fal C530SC Signature Nonstick Expert Thermo-Spot
Moving onto aluminum now. Obviously T-Fal is a name we are all familiar with and they make great cookware of course. As I said earlier you really want stainless steel or heavy grade aluminum for glass cook tops and these are the latter. A comment a lot of our readers have said is that they find stainless steel sets, especially multi ply, too heavy and cumbersome to use. So aluminum is a great option as it much lighter. This is heavy gauge aluminum so we still get a great result from the glass stove.
These come with the famous thermo-spot that lets you know when the pan is pre heated properly. They are non stick both inside and out so they are a breeze to clean. You can again put them in the dishwasher but over time this may have a negative affect on the non stick surface.
Oven rated to 350 degrees F so not as high as the stainless steel but still quite a useful range.
This is a great option for anyone looking for something away from stainless steel.
5. Chef’s Star 11 Piece Professional Grade Aluminum Non-stick Pots & Pans Set
We thought we would add something more colorful to the list as all the others have been very similar. This is a very popular set which reviews very well on Amazon.
Set Includes 11 Pieces: 11″ Wok with Lid, 9.45″ Casserole with Lid, 9.45″ Frying Pan (Deep), 11″ Frying Pan (Deep) , 5 Piece BPA free Nylon Kitchen Tools. So you are getting a good range of pans and even some utensils thrown in. This is a great set considering the price. Not as heavy gauge as the T-Fal but it still cooks well on glass cook tops.
It is oven safe to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit and also dishwasher safe. This set is also rated as being freezer safe. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty. For the price this is a great set offering extreme value. Would make a great gift in our opinion.
Conclusion
So there you have some of the best available cookware sets for glass cook tops. We could go on and on listing them but there is very little to choose between a lot of them. Our recommendation is to go for heavy gauge stainless steel or aluminum. Other cookware types will work fine on glass cook tops but if you are looking to get the best results then stainless steel is the way to go.
Like we mentioned earlier be very careful if you do go for something stoneware as they can damage your glass top.
Our favorite on this list was the Cuisinart set at number 2 as it just amazing value.
I’m looking for a set of induction pots that includes an extra large pots, the largest one we have is 230cm x 120 cm.
Can you recommend any that would suit and the price, I like in Lincoln UK
John
Hi
There aren’t really any sets that come with pans larger than that but you can buy them separately. Check out the Buckingham range on Amazon here: http://amzn.to/2F3OHjx
Great recommendations. I especially like the part about how copper can sometimes leave a stain. Nice!
