This first kettle is from Ovente who are well known for making high quality products at affordable prices. This kettle has been incredibly popular and currently has over 6000 positive reviews on Amazon.com.
One of the main concerns people have with glass kettles is staining as obviously you will be able to see inside the kettle at all times. This kettle is made with a borosilicate glass body which is highly stain resistant. When you switch the kettle on to boil is lights up the water with a blue light that come from concealed LED’s. It gives the kettle a really modern look and is lots of fun as well. These lights also act as a safety feature warning you that the kettle is in use. The handle stays cool at all times.
It has the standard features you would expect from a kettle like auto shut off, boil dry protection and of course it lifts away from a corded base for ease of use. This is great kettle at an incredible price.
It comes in a range of colours which is always nice.
2. OXO On Cordless Glass Adjustable Temperature Electric Kettle
OXO love to add temperature controls to their devices and we love them for it! If you need a kettle with customizable temperature then give this one your full consideration. Not only does it bring the water to your desired temperature but it keeps it at that temp for up to 30 minutes. You can select any temperature between 170 and 212 Degrees Fahrenheit. You can change the settings to Celsius of you prefer. Simply turn the dial to your selected temp and then hit the button.
We love the look of this kettle. It keeps everything nice and simple. It has a great modern look and of course all the features of any standard kettle. It is made with BPA-free borosilicate glass that is thermal shock resistant so you don’t need to worry about the glass cracking if you suddenly decide to fill it with cold water again right after a boil.
Safety features include a stay cool handle, auto shut off and a corded base that the kettle lifts away from. It also has a soft opening lid meaning you can safely open the kettle even when the water is hot without having to worry about hot water splashing out.
This is a great looking kettle with the great addition of being able to choose your temperature.
3. KitchenAid KEK1322SS 1.5L Electric Glass Tea Kettle
We’ve always been a big fan of Kitchen Aid products. We love how mechanical and traditional they are whilst being extremely modern at the same time. Their products always have a unique and eye catching design. This kettle is made in the same way. It too has temperature control but instead of a dial it has a manual lever that you slide to the desired temperature. Somehow they always find a way to give modern functions a old school feel.
Another advantage with this one is the removable infuser. If you want to you can make your tea directly in the kettle by putting your loose leaf tea in the infuser and sliding it into the kettle. This works really well in conjunction with the temperature gauge as some tea’s are made to be drunk at specific temps allowing you to make the perfect cup every time. It has 5 selectable temperatures and also has a keep warm function maintaining its temperature for up to 30 minutes.
This was one of our favorites in testing and is the kettle we chose to keep for ourselves. This product scores slightly lower on the reviews at Amazon but we couldn’t fault it so it had to go on our list.
4. Cusimax 7-Cup BPA-free Glass Electric Kettle
Great value product from Cusimax now. Like others in the glass range this one lights up with a blue LED when in use. Really fast to boil water and can hold 7 cups of water at once.
It has a removable filter which prevents any scale getting into your drink although all the kettles on this list also have this feature. It has all the standard features you would expect: auto shut off, dry boil protection and lifts away from a cordless base.
Not much more to say on this one but it’s a great looking kettle from a good brand at a nice price. It has over 90 5 star reviews on Amazon at the time of writing.
5. Breville BKE830XL The IQ Kettle Pure
Breville have always made top quality products and that tradition continues with this kettle. It is made with German Schott Glass which is very high in quality and looks great.
This kettle has 5 temperature options you can select with individual buttons on the front panel. It also has a keep warm function option there as well.
It can hold 7 cups of water and is very quick to boil even when full.
Our only gripe with this one was that it was very fidly to remove the filter and then reinstall it again. A couple of reviwers complained that they ended up breaking the filter when attempting this. We didn’t experience it breaking but it was a bit fiddly. Replacement filters are available from Breville if the worst does happen. This is a very minor flaw in an otherwise great kettle.
Conclusion
So there you have 5 of the best glass tea kettles currently available. You can’t really go wrong with any of them but our favorite was the Kitchen Aid, we loved the look and the added bonus of being able to make tea directly in the kettle made it stand out from all the others. If you need the ultimate in temperature control then the only choice is the OXO as with that you can pick any temperature you want. The other kettles while having temperature options are more restrictive, with the OXO you can choose the exact temperature you need and have the kettle hold the water at that setting for 30 minutes.
If you are on the look out for something cheaper and simpler then either the Ovente or Cusimax will be a great choice. Neither have temperature controls but they are both fast boiling kettles with all the features you will need if you simply want to boil water.
